I am Dr. Baros and I am from Albuquerque New Mexicao. I am proud to say that I am the first person in myChicano family to go to college. I earned his BA at the University of New Mexico in English and went on to earn an MA in English as well. I moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington for my Ph.D. My doctorate work is in  20th century American literature, Chicana/o/@ literatrure, and critical theory including Women of Color Feminist Theory. I am interested in identity construction, conscouness, the politics of beloniging and community, and the politics of coalition building. My favorite book by an Chicana author is Caramelo by Sandra Cesneros and I recommend it to everyone I can. If you want some other reading suggestions, just ask!

I joined the English department at Skagit Valley College in 2019. At SVC I have worked on several diversity and antiracist focused projects. I teach writing classes that focus on idenity, learning, race, labor, diversity, and solidarity. I also teach in the Ethinc Studies department where I teach classes on American Minorities and an introduction to Chicana/o/@ studies. As of

For Spring 2023 I am teaching the following:

English 102 B

English 324 A
