New students enroll in ELA 010 Orientation.

Students will be contacted to set up an intake testing session before the quarter starts.

 

All students also enroll in ELA 021.

$25 per quarter

New students may be eligible for a tuition waiver based on income. Waivers are available at registration.

 

Returning students must have successfully completed their last class and be eligible based on income to receive a tuition waiver. Tuition waivers for returning students may be forwarded to BEdA staff for approval.

 

Financial aid may also be available through other state and federal programs such as DSHS, DVR, Opportunity Grant, WorkSource, DOC, and others.

Go to the registration office in Oak Hall on the Oak Harbor Campus to get registration forms. You can pick them up and take them home to fill out, or you can complete them in the waiting area.

 

If you need additional help with registration, leave your contact information with Registration or Student Services and a BEdA staff will contact you to set up an appointment.

Basic Education for Adults (BEdA)

General Information

BEdA classes include:

  • English Language Acquisition (ELA)     
  • College and Career Bridge (CCB)          
  • High School Completion (HSC) 
  • All BEdA classes require a minimum of 45 hours of attendance per quarter, as well as intake and exit testing.
  •  
  • All new students interested in HS21+ High School Completion must enroll in the CCB 010 Orientation class for intake testing. Students will be contacted to arrange a testing session. Transcripts for evaluation may be dropped off at the Student Services office or e-mailed to: jennifer.lawson@skagit.edu
  •  
  • All BEdA classes will help students improve English skills, prepare for the GED© tests*, earn HS21+ credits, and/or prepare for college classes.

* GED© Notes:

 

  • All BEdA classes are open to all students, regardless of age (over 16) or educational goal.**

**Exceptions:

  • Individuals who are in the country with F-1, M-1, or J-1 visas may not enroll in BEdA ELA or CCB classes in accordance with state and U.S. laws.
