Basic Education for Adults (BEdA) General Information

  • BEdA classes include:
  • English Language Acquisition (ELA):         Reading / Writing / Math / Speaking / Listening
  • College and Career Bridge (CCB):            Reading / Writing / Math / GED© / HS21+/College Prep
  • High School Completion (HSC):                HS21+/College Prep (Requires instructor permission)
  • All BEdA classes require a minimum of 45 hours of attendance per quarter, as well as entry and exit testing.
  • All new students interested in HS21+ High School Completion must enroll in the CCB 010 Orientation class for intake testing and transcript evaluation. Students will be contacted to arrange session.
  • All BEdA classes will help students improve English skills, prepare for the GED© tests*, earn HS21+ credits, or prepare for college classes.
  • Classes do not include GED© testing, and many students require more than one quarter of instruction to master content to pass the GED©.

How much does it cost?

$25 per quarter for as many BEdA classes as you want to take.

$30 per test for a total of $120.

How can I register?

Go to the registration office in Oak Hall on the Oak Harbor Campus or to the South Whidbey campus to get registration forms. You can pick them up and take them home to fill out, or you can complete them in the waiting area.

 

If you need additional help with registration, leave your contact information with Registration or Student Services and a BEdA staff will contact you to set up an appointment.

Is Financial Aid available?

New students may be eligible for a tuition waiver based on income. Waivers are available at registration.

 

Returning students must have successfully completed their last class and be eligible based on income to receive a tuition waiver. Tuition waivers for returning students may be forwarded to BEdA staff for approval.

 

Financial aid may also be available through other state and federal programs such as DSHS, DVR, Opportunity Grant, WorkSource, DOC, and others.
