As a ten-year resident of Bellingham, not only did I embrace living close to family, I also discovered a love of learning and teaching. Starting at Whatcom Community College and completing my BA in Communication Studies at WWU, my journey to teach led me to Skagit Valley College.
Not only am I am drawn to communication studies, I am fascinated by the myriad approaches to the study of communication. I aim to bring my enthusiasm on the subject to all of my communication studies classes because, without communication, life as we know it is impossible.
I find my students have much to bring to the classroom as well. We often apply our communication skills discussing the effects of current events impacting us all. I love these discussions! We learn about our world through communication, and I learn just as much from my students as they learn from me. Learning is my passion, and teaching is my privilege.
When I was young I had to write a report on Mahatma Gandhi. As I read about this man of unmatched character, he challenged me. Gandhi challenged me to become the change I want to see in the world, and so I became a teacher.
Mahatma Gandhi - The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world's problems.
