About me

My first career was a private practice in psychotherapy. I was asked to teach a night class for the college in 1982. Always up for a challenge, I decided to give it a whirl. Teaching very quickly became a passion and over the next several years, I taught and maintained my practice. In 1997 I closed my practice.

The areas of research and teaching I enjoy most are cognitive neuroscience and human sexuality. Psychology has given me opportunities to work in many different ways in the community. I've consulted and worked with hospitals, police departments, schools, and private businesses.

I recommend psychology to students who are interested in human behavior in all its manifestations. Graduate work in psychology is very competitive and students should be prepared to take on rigorous coursework. However, psychology will also be helpful in many other careers. It can be extremely helpful to students going into the fields of medicine, law, education, business -- really, nearly any field that brings you into contact with other human beings -- or animals for that matter.

Please come in and chat if you have questions or just want to talk about where you're headed and how psychology can play a role in your education.
