Hello! I'm Greta Kocol and I'm here at Skagit Valley College to help you learn mathematics. I've been enjoying mathematics, puzzles and games since I can remember. When I first started college myself, I attended Everett Community College. Eventually I ended up at Western Washington University where I earned a BA in Mathematics Education and a Master of Science in Mathematics. I spent some time teaching junior high and high school math students before I began work at SVC twenty years ago.

Happy Spring! I hope you are ready to learn new skills and become a better critical thinker. I am looking forward to working on some fun and challenging problems with you. I hope this quarter goes smoothly for you. See you around campus!

(Buyer Beware: If you purchase an access code online the code number must not have been previously used or it will not work. Purchasing from Pearson directly at MyMathLab registration is safe and is approximately $100) If you don't have the money right now, you can always log into the course with a temporary 14-day access in order to get started immediately.

A TI-83 or TI-84 graphing calculator is also required for the course and the link cable to connect it to your computer.

**Math 142: **Text for Math 142: Precalculus Enhanced with Graphing Utilities, 7th edition, Michael Sullivan, Pearson; OR if you already have a copy of Precalculus Mathematics for Calculus, 6e, Stewart/Redlin/Watson, Brooks/Cole, you may use that text AND older editions of either text will be fine as well.

A TI-83 or TI-84 graphing calculator is also required for the course with direct link cable.

**Math 107 **: Mathematics: A Practical Odyssey, 7th edition, Johnson/Mowry, Cengage. You may use an older edition if you would like. A Mathematician Reads the Newspaper is another required book for the class. You will also be required to have a TI83/84 calculator.
