Hello! I'm Greta Kocol and I'm here at Skagit Valley College to help you learn mathematics. I've been enjoying mathematics, puzzles and games since I can remember. When I first started college myself, I attended Everett Community College. Eventually I ended up at Western Washington University where I earned a BA in Mathematics Education and a Master of Science in Mathematics. I spent some time teaching junior high and high school math students before I began work at SVC over 18 years ago.

Last summer I kept busy enjoying visits with my granddaughter, hiking, swimming, dog walking, teaching VBS, and unfortunately lots of hauling and chipping of branches. The picture above is of Colchuck Lake in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. I did a day hike there with my sister Karla hiking approximately 7 miles into the Enchantments. We saw a fox, bear, mountain goats, and marmots. What fun!

I'm looking forward to working with you and your mathematics questions this quarter. I'm available to help students this quarter when my office door is open. Please drop in and bring your questions. Don't be a stranger. I want to help you to be successful in mathematics and in your career and life goals.

** Math 98 - Online :** A MyMathLab access code/kit is required for the class. The Math 98 text is available online with the code, a paper copy of the book is optional. Text: Elementary and Intermediate Algebra - Functions and Authentic Applications 2e, Jay Lehmann. (Buyer Beware: If you purchase an access code online the code number must not have been previously used or it will not work. Purchasing from Pearson directly at MyMathLab registration is safe and is approximately $100) If you don't have the money right now, you can always log into the course with a temporary 14-day access in order to get started immediately.

__MATH 98 DE - WINTER 2016 SYLLABUS: __

Feel free to download the syllabus now, read it through, and start the course over winter break if you like. I won't be monitoring my email, but you can plow through as much homework as you are able before the quarter even begins.
