Charles "Chuck" Luckmann (he, his)

My academic background is in anthropology and English, creative writing, Native American literature, and poetry. I love indigenous languages and have studied several, including Navajo and Lushootseed (Puget Salish). My courses are ttheme-based, often focused on the Puget Sound & Salish Sea Bioregion. I'm a published author and editor and a strong advocate for experiential learning and field study. I was the executive editor for the Journal of Experiential Education from 1992-97. Many of my classes will offer field trips, except during the pandemic. This is my 24th year at Skagit Valley College. I look forward to meeting you.

Please contact me if you have any questions: charles.luckmann@skagit.edu; 360.416.7696.

You'll love this class. We'll discuss some of the best poetry and short fiction you'll ever read. Are you familiar with the Seattle playwright August Wilson? We'll read his play Fences (and watch the movie). We'll also examine one of Dr. Martin Luther King's speeches. Get your books and get ready for an exciting quarter. I'll send the syllabus a week before classes begin.
