Chuck is a Mathematics instructor at Skagit Valley College on the Mount Vernon Campus.  He received his Bachelors of Arts in Education and Masters of Science in Mathematics from Western Washington University, and earned an AAS at Whatcom Community College after attending one year at WSU.

Chuck began teaching at SVC in 1990 on the Whidbey Campus teaching Math, Chemistry, and Natural Science courses.  Since 1994 he has taught math on the Mount Vernon campus.

His mathematical interests include Calculus, Differential Equations, using Mathematica and creating interactive computer-based manipulates to help students understand challenging concepts.

Outside of school, Chuck enjoys the outdoors, camping, spending time with family, and music.  He plays trombone in several groups including the Skagit Symphony, Skagit Community Band, and various big bands in the area when time allows.

Mathematica 10 Home Use for Students

Current students can download a free copy of Mathematica for their personal use.

  1. Log-in to any campus computer using your MYSVC login and navigate to the Student Apps Y: drive
  2. Open the Mathematica Student Install CD folder, and open the Version 10 folder
  3. Copy the correct installation file to a thumbdrive depending on OS (Windows, MAC, Linux) (approximately 2 gig)
  4. Obtain an activatation code by creating a Wolfram user account:  click here
  5. Install; enter the activation code; enjoy.
