I have been teaching chemistry to the great students of SVC since 2006.  I am a first generation college student and was raised on the rural coast of the Washington peninsula in a small town that makes Concrete look like a metropolis.  I attended Grays Harbor College in Aberdeen before earning concurrent BA/BS degrees from The Evergreen State College.  I also hold a Master’s in Chemistry from Western Washington University and a Doctorate in Chemical Education from the University of Northern Colorado.  In addition to my job at SVC, I am passionate about supporting STEM education in the public school system and work with local elementary teachers and students to enrich science in their classrooms.

In my spare time, I'm the World's Greatest Mom, a Fantasy Football Champion, and a very loyal but disappointed Mariners fan.  My hobbies include taking care of bees, hanging out in Whistler, and eating frozen yogurt.

Select Awards and Honors Received:

Outstanding Dissertation, University of Northern Colorado
Graduate Research Fellow, Hach Scientific Foundation
Graduate Research Fellow, National Science Foundation Center for Learning and Teaching in the West
Teacher of the Year, Skagit Valley College
